Route Overview
The Umbwe Route is the steepest and most challenging route on Mount Kilimanjaro, designed for experienced trekkers seeking a true adventure and a more demanding climb. Known for its dramatic landscapes, rapid elevation gain, and remote atmosphere, the Umbwe Route offers an intense and rewarding journey to Uhuru Peak (5,895m).
This route joins the Machame Route at Barranco Camp before continuing toward the summit.
