I love seeing new places but hate getting there. Anyways, We met a representative of Exciting Ethiopia Tours at some travel show near her work in SF. She was excited about it and I thought “not a chance.” I never considered going to Africa. Nothing against the country at all but to be honest always felt like it would be dangerous and going there just never even crossed my mind. She kept poking at me to “just look into it a little bit”, I did and slowly over the course of months of doing some research, I found myself changing my mind, I say slowly because it took about 5 months before I agreed. After a long but surprisingly smooth and hassle free plane ride or two we landed in Addis Ababa. Wow, I’m in Ethiopia and I’m in Africa. We were greeted by a man by the name of George Ashebir at the airport. He is the Touring Operator for Exciting Ethiopia Tours. We explored the city and what a treat that was. We ended up George’s village. What a beautiful yet simple life they live. I took for granted the things I have here in the states. Material items we have more here. What they lack in material items they more than make up for with their family/friend bonds, traditions, ceremonies etc. They also brew the best coffee you will ever sip in your life. I travel a lot. I don’t always write reviews. I unfortunately only do when I have had a great experience or a bad experience. I have to work on that. But, if I could recommend one place, one time, one experience for someone out there that might be considering a life changing experience, do your self a favor and call these guys.
